Our Mission

This is a volunteer project. There is no charge for this whatsoever. It is simply a mission for me. I hope that in the future I will find other like-minded individuals who would like to become a part of this organization as well.

Becoming a Member

I am currently working on a format to become a member, but please know that it is open to anyone who would like to join. These are amazing people, and we all have something to learn from them!

Organization News

Since this is a brand new site and organization, please bear with me. I will be working on updating things as quickly as I can. There is already a lot of interest, so I will try to get organized quickly!  Stay tuned...

Montgomery Advertiser article/ Update on Dawson
Many thanks to Alvin Benn and the Montgomery Advertiser for their wonderful article!  If you are new to the site as a result of reading this newspaper- welcome!  Here's a link to the article:  http://montgomeryadvertiser.com/article/20081114/NEWS02/811140312

As emphasized before, we are still looking to draw in many volunteers.  Any experience is great, but not mandantory.  I would really like to have someone with some website experience, so if anyone knows of someone who could help, that would be wonderful.

The Dawson Memorial Church project is coming along very well.  We have started the editing process and the interviews continue.  MANY THANKS to Dennis Goodwin, Karen Weaver, and Dick Toya (among many others!) for their help and humble spirit in completing the interviews.  Also, thanks to the multiple interviewers who have taken the time to contact the veterans and help them prepare for their recordings.

I look forward to continuing to see these men and women honored!  God bless.

Veteran's Day 2008 (Fox 6 News)

Well, Veteran's Day 2008 has come and gone.  With all the parades and kids home from school there was a great sense of respect and honor for all of our veterans, from World War I all the way to the current Iraq war.  It is the sacrifices of these brave men and women that have allowed us to have the freedom we have today!

As always, with the growing response of this project, we are in great need of volunteers.  There have been several articles written in magazines and news publications lately, and the response has been awesome.  If you have the spare time to make some phone calls, or would be willing to actually video tape an interview, I'd love to hear from you.  In addition, if you have any video editing experience we could sure use you as well.  Also, a major need right now with our expansion is someone with any experience in WEBSITE DESIGN.

I wanted to post a link to the story that Fox 6 News did on our project yesterday.  God bless!

My name is Jeff Beabout, and I am a business owner (Backyard Adventures of AL) from Birmingham, AL.  The Veteran DVD Project is an exciting new project I have decided to take on as of October 20, 2007! I recently interviewed, directed, and produced a DVD of a local WWII hero. He was able to share all of his stories from his experiences in the European theater as well as share his faith. By turning this into a DVD, he was able to permanently share some of the most dynamic aspects of his life with his family for generations to come. Let's face it, these men and women are some of the bravest people alive today. They fought a war in which it was truly unknown whether we as a nation would continue to enjoy the freedoms we had up to that point. They faced such an evil enemy with such determination and resolve, volunteering to go to battle for the USA. It is my personal belief that all of our WWII veterans should have the same chance as my friend here in Birmingham did, and all of their families should be able to hear these amazing stories of bravery from the mouths of the veterans themselves. It is because of this that I have started this organization. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN EITHER HELPING WITH THE PROJECT OR YOU HAVE A RELATIVE WHO IS A WWII VETERAN, EITHER EMAIL ME AT THE LINK BELOW OR SIGN INTO THE GUESTBOOK.  I look forward to meeting many new people!
